Orthodontics for Children & Adults
My name is Dr. Todd Sherwood and I’d like to give you a brief summary of my academic and professional life to present. Starting with college, I attended the University of Rochester in upstate New York, where I graduated with honors. I then went on to the State University of New York at Buffalo for dental school, where I received my Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors.
Ever since my own visits to the orthodontist during the teen years, I knew that orthodontics would be my career. I was fascinated by the unique blend of both technical and social skills that were drawn upon by this craft. So I naturally followed dental school with postgraduate training in orthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. That’s where I earned my Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and Master of Dental Science (MDS) degree in 1999. I spent three years in Pittsburgh during which time I performed orthodontic treatments on children and adults, and also wrote a master’s thesis that became a published article in the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal.
After my training I returned to the New York City area to be with family and friends. Between 1999 and 2004 I worked for orthodontic offices located in New Jersey and Brooklyn, and gained much experience in the clinical and managerial aspects of private practice.
With four-plus years of experience in the practice of orthodontics, I decided in 2004 that I was ready to embark on a new professional adventure. I always aspired to run an office of my own, and found a fantastic opportunity to do so in Hartsdale, Westchester County, New York. As the years have passed, my practice approach has proven a formula for success.
In 2008, I opened a satellite location in Rockland County, which several years later found a home in a state of the art facility in Orangeburg, New York. I am now happily serving the orthodontic needs of communities on both sides of the Hudson River.
